Back at it

There hasn't been much action in this blog over the last while, but I've been inspired by Gavin and Sam to dust it off.

Twitter collapsing might be the best thing to happen to classic blogging in years. I've finally upgraded my RSS reader from the discontinued Early Edition to Feedly. I'm getting back into longer-form reading again, so maybe it's time to get back to longer form writing as well.

English major habits die hard, so I tend to overthink my blog posts. This means they often took days of drafting and editing and tuning and left me exhausted. I think this is part of why I went so hard into Twitter, where things felt more ephemeral and lower-friction, so posting was much easier. It's not like I don't write a lot: I still keep a daily journal in my (also discontinued) app Remembary and it's regularly more than 500 words.

My new plan is to try to write here more like I write on Twitter and/or my journal and not worry so much about fine-tuning every single turn of phrase. I have opinions about stuff, and it's never a bad time to have those opinions on your own site rather than someone else's.

So stay tuned!
