Last winter, I converted local startup Careerious' codebase from C#/.NET into Ruby on Rails - ending up with about one fifth the code and some serious speed improvements. I wrote a bit about this project a while ago. Next Thursday I'll be presenting on this project at the Ruby/Rails Project Night. I'll be going into more detail on some of the techniques I used to translate and clean up the application, as well as a few glimpses of some seriously messed up Enterprise C# / SQL Server code.

It's Thursday night, May 7th, at the Rich Media Institute downstairs at 156 Augusta Avenue in Kensington. Doors open at 5:30. I'll provide the WTF code samples, and Careerious/Clearfit will be providing the beer.

Also, Libin Pan from LearnHub will be talking about Ruby on the iPhone, and Kristan "Krispy" Uccello from Domainer will be discussing Xample and Domain Driven Design.
