A new version of the SOS has been deployed to the live server. This update has a lot of changes related to Shipping. Highlights include:
- You can now enter a shipping cost for every shipment. These costs don't automatically total into the job, but they provide a handy reference for the admin users to figure out the total cost.
- All shipments, including supplier shipments and shipments direct to store locations, now show up on the job screen itself, so the admin staff can see what's going on more clearly.
- Clicking on the 'Ship To' address on a packing slip will bring up a set of editable fields for entering a custom address. Note, though, that if you enter a custom address, the shipment won't be receivable through the SOS. This is handy for one-off shipments to installers who aren't otherwise part of the regular workflow
- Shipping labels are now tied directly to shipments, which means that they can now show any custom addresses for their shipment. Also, the link for bringing up the shipping label is now in the shipments listing rather than at the top of the job.
- The Admin 'Accounts Receivable' listing used to show every single invoiced job, which made it take a while to load up. This listing now only shows jobs invoiced in the last three months. There's now a new listing called 'Archive' which shows all invoiced jobs - that one still takes a while to load, but you probably won't need to go there very often.
- Also, by popular demand, the listings of invoiced jobs are sorted in *reverse* order, which puts more recent orders first, and should cut down on all that scrolling.
- The previous update included many new kinds of shipping, such as suppliers shipping direct to customer locations, and orders being fulfilled at supplier and customer warehouses. It turned out that there were a few situations where the inventory updates weren't working correctly - not only have these situations been addressed, but new 'under the hood' tools have been added to make it easier to clean up any problems that may still come up.
- You may also notice some slightly different branding, especially on the login and welcome pages - Shindig is showing a bit more presence on the SOS site, rather than the previous owners, Get Signage Inc. A whole new Shindig SOS site is on its way soon, with screencasts, FAQs, and the like.
